The Diamonds 1998

Season 2006 / 2007

The Diamonds 1998 started out training as part of the Diamonds Soccer School at Broxburn Academy on a Saturday morning and six months later they were playing Under 9 football in the WLSS Under 9s league.

Their first games being at the WLSS indoor festival at Bathgate, where they did very well in their four games. Winning one and drawing one, a great performance from a team who had never played together before.

The majority of the teams in the Under 9s league had been playing together for a year or more and as such the Diamonds were playing catch up. Some games were won, some games were drawn ......... and some were lost. But no-one found it easy playing against the League's newest team.

In February 2007 the 9s were a group of individuals playing football. At the season's end they were a team, playing and working for each other, great progress.

The Diamonds 1998 are now heading into the Under 10s league, determined to maintain that progress.

Season 2007 / 2008

In July 2007 the Diamonds 1998 took the step up to Under 10s and their first full season of football. The first few weeks were difficult, three defeats against three very good teams at the Carbrain Tournament was followed by a friendly defeat by Mid Calder from one of the higher leagues.

The Diamonds hadn't really started started training though, and when they did the team started to gel and the results started to follow. Playing some good football the team played twelve league games : winning nine and losing only three. Great progress !

The Diamonds 2007 / 2008

January saw the team make their second trip to the Bathgate indoor festival and improving on last seasons record they won two games, drawing one and losing one. A good way to work of the Christmas Pudding !

March 2008 saw the league season restart, well after the pitches had dried out from the constant rain and hail and snow. The Diamonds picked up from their earlier good form, victory over old rivals Mid Calder showed the progress being made. In fourteen league games the Diamonds won eleven, drawing two and losing only once.

Winning is of course great but the purpose of the WLSDA and Soccer Sevens is to improve the players skills and abilities. On that basis the season has been a real success with all the players growing in confidence and showing some great touches on the ball and good thinking and running off of it.

At the end of the season the Diamonds took part in the Uphall Gala Day challenge game against our old friends Livingston Hearts Blue. Last season the visitors were victorious, this season the Diamonds lifted the trophy, a fine way to to see off the season !

Season 2008 / 2009

After a good season at Under 10s the Diamonds were promoted into the "middle league" of the WLSDA. This meant harder and more challenging games.

The main aim for the season was to show that the Diamonds could compete at this higher level, and they did just that. A lot of good victories were achieved, with of course some defeats as well. The encouraging thing was that, the oposition had to play well to beat the Diamonds. A lot of good goals were scored, everyone in the team popping up to score, even Aaron the goalie, who scored playing outfield in the last game of the season.

The Diamonds managed to lift a trophy this season, retaining the Uphall Gala Day Cup, beating Livi Star in an exciting game.

                        Season 2008 / 2009

This was the difficult transitional season for the Diamonds. Playing the first six months at Soccer Sevens and then moving to the eleven a side game from March to June.

Scoring an early season goal.

Still to be added
