The President's Cup Final            Broxburn Colts   1   Uphall Diamonds   2

A goalless first half did not reflect the Diamonds dominance, the Broxburn keeper producing a number of very good saves.

The second half started with the Diamonds changing to a very positive formation with three forwards and an attacking midfield and were rewarded with two goals. The first saw a long ball from the keeper flicked on and deftly knocked past the keeper. The second a cracking 30 yard drive. Again the Broxburn keeper kept his side in the game with a series of excellent saves.

A nervous last ten minutes were endured when Broxburn nicked a goal back but the Diamonds saw the game out to deservedly win the trophy.

Uphall Diamonds 1992

Season 2005 /2006 @ under 14s

It was a season of two halves. The first half was spent trying to build the squad up and as a consequence wins were few and far between. After the turn of the year however the team started to settle and a lot of positive results were obtained. The Diamonds ended the season with a string of good wins.

Beating Division A side Polbeth in a post - season friendly showed that the 14s had indeed made great progress during the season.

In April the Diamonds made the trip down to the North East of Engalnd, playing local side Cleveland Juniors and taking in the Middlesbrough Vs Everton Premiership match.

A great trip and one that has sparked plans to hopefully make a longer trip to Europe next season.

Season 2006 / 2007 @ under 15s

Three teams had come down from the A Division and all fancied their chances of returning to the top division. All the other teams in the division thought that they were in with a shout but it was the Diamonds who quietly got on with winning league points. As the season progressed the Diamonds, along with Armadale set the pace. At the mid season break the Diamonds were on top.

A stumble towards the end of the season was ultimately to prove costly as Armadale clawed back the Diamonds lead. The final league game at Broxburn Academy became a shoot out for the title and unfortunatly Armadale won. The Diamonds had to settle for second place, but promotion had been won .............Its a measure of the Diamonds progress that they were disapointed at only gaining promotion.

Mid season the Diamonds were hit by a tragedy which puts into prospective any football defeat. Reece Anderson, our  left winger was killed in a tragic road accident.

He was a popular player with the players and coaching staff and will be sadly missed by all.

Reece, number 11, on the left, celebrates a Diamonds goal early in the season against Newtown.

A few games were postponed before the Diamonds bounced back with a terrific 7-1 victory over Whitburn Claret in the Bob Lambie Cup. The players now all determined the win the trophy for Reece.

A Bob Lambie Semi Final was won away to BFC Linlithgow, setting up a cup final clash with Armadale. To be played in Armadale !

The Bob Lambie Cup Final               Armadale   3   Uphall Diamonds   4

This was an unbelievable game of football, which had drama from the first minute till the last.

Armadale took an early lead with a fine overhead kick. The Diamonds quickly responded : Callum, Gordon and Sam all scoring to give the Diamonds a 3-1 half time lead. It could have been more with the Diamonds in control for long periods, but it was a good position to be in.

Armadale pulled a goal back early in the second half. Responding quickly the Diamonds two goal lead was restored, Sam scoring his second goal. Armadale in turn hit back and reduced the deficit. The Diamonds were 4-3 ahead with twenty five minutes remaining.

The Diamonds hit the post and then had a shot cleared off of the line. Armadale hit the post and as the game drew to a close they pushed harder and harder for the equilizer.

With a minute left Armadale netted only to have the goal chalked off for offside. Into injury time they were awarded a penalty kick, Craig made a great save from the spot kick only to see the Referee award a retake for encroachment into the box. With the tension cranked up another gear the retake was fired wide of goal.

The final whistle sounded, and the Diamonds roared on by their big travelling support celebrated their first ever trophy.

The season ended with the annual player of  year awards and a couple of friendlies as the Diamonds build for their first season in the A Division.

Season 2007 / 2008 @ under 16s

Season 2007 / 2008 started with a memorial match for our team mate Reece Anderson who died earlier in the year. A hard fought game against Broxburn Colts saw the Diamonds battle back from two goals down in the final minutes to snatch a draw.

The Diamonds net a last gasp equalizer in the Reece Anderson Memorial game

Having won promotion in the previous season the Diamonds 1992 took their place in the WLAYFC Division A. With a lot of very good teams in the division this was going top be a very tough season, and so it proved. League points proved tantalisingly difficult to achieve with the Diamonds on many occasions just falling short of turning defeats into draws or even wins. The Diamonds ending the season in joint eighth position along side Armadale and Forth.

While struggling in the league the Diamonds proved to be a feisty cup side.

The Scottish Cup saw the Diamonds beat Edinburgh's Haddington 6-1, knocking out a fighting Grangemouth before falling to Kingdom Thistle, who went to the Semi finals.

In the Regional Cup the Diamonds beat Edinburgh City Colts 5-0, Queensferry Thistle 3-0 and, in probably their best display of the season knock out high flying Livingston Star. The Diamonds bowed out in the quarter finals to one of Edinburgh's top sides Loanhead.

The County Cup also brought a memorable result when rivals Broxburn Colts were knocked out 6-4 after extra time.

In May 2008 the Diamonds took a day trip south to Sunderland. Playing  local team Redhouse Rovers, losing an exciting game 4-3.

Then over to the Stadium of Light for the Premiership clash between Sunderland and Arsenal. The London side winning 1-0.

The season ended with the Diamonds in the Presidents Cup Final, playing Whitburn Amber. An injury ravaged Diamonds fell two goals behind but battled to the end, pulled a goal back but were just unable to take the game to extra time....... It was kind of how the whole season had gone !

Season 2008 / 2009 @ under 17s

Season 2007/2008 saw the Diamonds retain their place in the "A Division". The previous season was all about consolodation in the top league. This season the Diamonds had to show that they were ready to mount a challenge.

The Diamonds did mount a challenge, for long spells of the season they were top of the league,  or in the top two. The Diamonds were no longer "a push over" for the top sides. Many an opponent were shocked by the fighting spirit this Diamonds team showed. Two goals down to Livi Star, away from home, with only 6 minutes to go ... the Diamonds got a 2-2 draw.

The end of the season saw the Diamonds finish in fifth place, which was a fine performance. The Diamonds had some tough cup draws, and couldn't get past the early rounds, their draws were very difficult though. There were good cup performances though. Three goals down to Whitburn after twelve minutes, the Diamonds fought back to win 6-3. On a very windy day at the Diamonds came close to knocking Fauldhouse out of the County Cup at their own patch of Stonnyburn Juniors. A last minute goal giving the league winners a victory, they went on to win the trophy.

Season 2009/2010/2011 @ under 19s

2009/2010 saw the Diamonds make the jump from Under 17s to Under 19s, a difficult step as they would now be playing teams potentially a year older. Having lost a number of players a new team had to be built and as a result results suffered at the start of the season. Towards the end of the year results did turn, and some good wins and performances were achieved.

Highlight of the season was probably the first round win in the Regional Cup; beating a West Calder team who had four ex-Diamonds playing for them. Other good results towards the end of the season were the 2-1 victory over Broxburn Colts and the 3-2 win over Livingston Star at Holmes Park. The latter game abandoned with a few minutes remaining due to a bad injury to Iain. I'm writing the history though, so it goes down as a Diamonds win!
